Mine is already winterized. Has been since the long weekend. Got frost 2 days after I Winterized, and due to that I think I was right on when I chose to do it.

I winterize the first week of October, pull the boat out and get to work. I just find it much easier to get this old body in the engine compartment and twisted around to get all the drain plugs out and flush the system with pink kool-aid when it is still above 50 degrees. I have waited as long as the last weekend on October but it always seems i get caught in a 38 degree day with cold rain which isn't any fun.

then I moved and find no reason to winterize and use the boat all year. It gets too cold up there. IF,, IF I want to see snow again there is always The Weather Channel.

Where in SE NC are you Crabby? I have had below freezing temps a few days every winter and I am also in SE NC, just outside Jacksonville.

Yes, the most fun is to wake up on a frozen morning, and panic about the boat. She is not frozen, so start her up, dump in the fuel stabilizer and put her on the trailer. Now run her on the hose and change the oil and filter and fog her out. Now clean the spark arrestor, change the water seperator, drain the gear oil, and finally drain the motor and fill with antifreeze. While you do this the temp drops and any wet spots on the boat freeze into glare ice. So it's slip and slide time.

Get it all done and have her covered up before dark. No go in and have a beer. Weather for tomorrow? 60* and sunny...nice!
