Where can I find parts for 4.5 merc?

Hey guys, I ended up working on a 1982 4.5hp mercury again. But this time I can't find the parts I need at Iboats. <br />they are:<br /><br />The Choke assembly, including the gate, the little knob, the spring, 4 inch long plastic piece and the other skinny spring.<br /><br />The Kill switch, the robber knob on the kill switch fell of or was knocked off so all we have to stop it is take a metal brush and use it to complete the contacts, thus grounding the engine. The gentleman who owns the outboard wants to keep it original so using a new type of kill switch is out of the question. <br /><br />So does anyone know where I can find these parts? Are they hidden deep within the iboats abyss or will I have to go somewhere else?<br /><br />If worse comes to shove I can easily make a new choke assembly. <br /><br />Thanks guys.!

Have you checked with your local mercury dealer?

we have no local merc dealer, and the closest guy does not even have the part books.

Doesn't sound like something Iboats would carry. Just common aftermarket parts like impellers, rebuild kits, electronics, etc.<br />Check the online diagrams at mercruiserparts.com or dougrussell.com to get your p/ns. Or Mercury Parts Express. It'll spit out a list of nearby dealers who'll toss the parts in the mail for you. If you're looking for a dealer to patronize, try themarinedoctor.com. I believe he sells OEM Merc parts. He's always found NLA parts for me at other dealers when the locals couldn't figure that out.

Thank you Paul, I ordered the parts, It would be nice to see Iboats with a set up like that. Would be even better if Iboats could do what Doug Russell does but bake it easier to navigate.
