Hello everyone , I'm thinking of buying a 1975 caraville cuddy it's a one owner boat with a 351 engine and I guess but not shure of the terminology is it a inboard/outboard or inboard. The last time it was ran was 5 yrs ago it's been inside and interior is wrapped in plastic freeze plug taken out to drain all water and seems to be verry well taken care of. It's 700.00 I feel it's a good price but no nothing about what it is or even called where to begin the motor isn't stuck and that's I can do I've got to trust my friend. But need to know what to look for in a boat that been sitting I have a outboard Bayliner so I need someone else's experience I'm a newby to this forum but always loved the older caravelle boats thanks for your input

For one thing, you can't take out "Freeze Plugs" http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=192525 If they are threaded, they are not freeze plugs.

One problem you are going to run into is engine parts, specifically the marine parts of the engine. Volvo no longer supports any of the Ford parts and only used those engine back then for 2 years. While there is nothing wrong with the Ford engine, the marine parts are what is the problems. Carbs, fuel pumps, distributors, exhaust manifolds, etc. So just a heads up.

Might want to spend some time up in the Stickies at the top of this forum. There is a lot of info there that you really want to have.
