Hi all. 96 4.3 lost power had water in oil. Gray milkshake.
compression check was 200 in all but cylinder 5 which is zero. Valve train looks ok
I just did rings and bearings etc last summer.
Pulled the head and found no obvious problem with gasket or head.
Thoughts?

Place a steel straight edge and feeler gauge and check for warpage across the head

That's all I could think of too. Temp guage never read high this year, but I'm not sure how accurate it is.
ill try the straight edge and maybe run it to a machine shop to check it out further.
Thanks

Any value higher than 150 psi means you either have a bad gauge, or you have water or oil in your cylinders.

150 PSI is the published cranking PSI for a new motor
