A little over a week ago I posted a thread "Would you call the cops?" It seems this thread has COMPLETELY disappeared. It has had daily posts from fellow forum users and I had been following the replies with interest. I queried the administrator with no reply. Is it lost in cyberspace? Has it been moved without notice? Did it offend someone? Was it stolen by a competing forum? Maybe I should call the cops....again.

You should call the cops. Someone probably crossed the line and it had to be removed, just a guess.

As I recall it turned into a flaming party and was "smitten".

Re: Where do threads go?

I queried the administrator with no reply. .

This has been my experience when I questioned such things too...

The iboats web and store admins basically say "ask the admin that did the action". (AKA "don't blame us, we don't run the forums" - which I totally understand.)

Unfortunately, when the action is to delete the post - how do you know which admin did this?

It's just an easy fix to nuke the whole post, and not in the rules of the forum, by the way. (They are supposed to deal with the individuals causing the problems, not just delete the post... ) This is probably 'justified' by we don't have the time to do that... etc..

Bottom line, things are not perfect. But seeing how we don't pay anything, and are free to leave if we choose, it's quite workable.

An alternate term, perhaps. Would you refer to a lovesick youth as "smited" by the target of his desire?

Perhaps "smited would do as a verb, but not as an adjective.

Re: Where do threads go?

Admins don't moderate this forum. Moderators do.

Simply closing a thread that has gone controversial/political/hostile does not remove the forbidden content. It must be deleted.

If you have a question about such matters you can PM any Moderator and get an answer.

If you will review our rules/guidelines you will see that objectional matter may be deleted or edited for any reason or for no reason. You will also find that it is not allowed to start a thread about the management or moderation of the forum.

Thanks for the info JB. It helps some what. There didn't seem to be anything out of line when I checked the post last, but I guess someone or more than one got out of line while I slept. I was a little confused when it was gone next morning, and therefore still don't know what transpired. Members posts seemed OK up to then. I don't agree with everybodies opinions but who does. As far as I'm considered, this question is asked and answered. I don't completely agree with the method but that to is not mine to decide. Please feel free to close this post.
