where does it go?

Hey guys got a 87 85hp. force.Pulled l.u. and plastic 2 in piece fell out.Does it go on water pump housing or end of drive shaft? any help would be appreciated thanks.

if it's white it goes on the water pump

its silver and is flared around oneend.
