Where does the fuel go?

I have a 2000 Johnson outboard 225 ocean pro. I was changing the fuel filter inside the cover, when I noticed that there was 2 places fuel goes after the filter. There's the main *hose going to the carb but there's also a little hose that comes out of the side of the same hose. Does anyone know what this goes to/what it's for? I think it was disconnected before I replaced the filter.*

Are you premixing your fuel and if so someone has disconnected the oil injection? If you post a pic of it that would help!

Do you have a push-to-choke on the ignition key switch?

It should go to a vacuum type device that has a tan wire running to it. If you have a fuel restriction this sets off the warning horn.

Thanks- pics coming. The guy who owned it before me disconnected the oil injection, so I do mix. It is a push to turn choke at the ignition.

Should I leave it disconnected? Is pre-mixed fuel not suppose to go into that?

The hose is teed into main fuel line, right? Where does the hose go from there and what is it attached to?? What happens when you pump your primer bulb, does it leak??

Boobie is correct, that smaller line TEE's off of the main line and goes to a vacume switch located just behind and to the right of the fuel pump, if there is a fuel restriction and it causes the line to create a vacume of 7psi or more that switch will turn on and activate your check engine light. It prevents you from running your motor lean. You probably pulled it off when changing the fuel filter out, it's pretty easy to do since it's such a small line. I'll see if I can find a pic to help out further.

Re: Where does the fuel go?

I found a picture on the Web of what the switch lookes like .

Vacumeswitch.jpg

Look for this switch in the same area and connect the vacuume line to it and you're good to go. It's a little bit of a pain to get to cause it's almost out of hands reach and is clustered in ther with all the other hoses. Anyhow... good luck

that's exactly it gentlemen, thanks. It was tricky getting back on, but no more fuel smell after I prime.
