I'm the new owner of a Force 85hp model# 856X5L . I'm ordering a manual but i need to know where the water enters the motor? I have a set of water muffs to attach to the garden hose so i can do a few quick checks on land before i end up stranded out in the middle of the lake. But the area where i would normally expect to find the water inlet, has Fill & Vent holes for the lower unit oil. The next location that i thought could be the water inlet was just in front of the prop. I thought i should ask yall before i screw up and overheat my motor before i even hit the water. Does anybody have any pics or first hand knowledge of where it is on this motor? any help would be greatly appreciated. thx guys

Re: where does the water come in?

I've seen them in only two spots. On the strut(duel exhaust I believe) or in the gear case. (single exhaust).

Mine is like the white one and the vent you're pointing at was my guess. Maybe I'm smarter than I give myself credit for. Thanks Tom!

Since your NEW!!! First pic is the NO touch.Second is the oil drin.
There is a screw on the side of the drive/front.DON"T remove!!!
That's part of the linkage and you won't be able to shift if you remove.

Also pics help.
Profile,Location? You might be close to someone who can help?

Thanks Jerry. Being a noob, I need all the friendly advice I can get. I'm pretty sure I would've touched the no touch screw before the week was up. Happy Boating
