I have a brand new (to me) 1984 Renken 950 cuddy with a mercruiser 898 i/o

I am trying to figure out how to rev my engine in neutral to warm up the throttle, it took quite a while to warm up that engine simply idleing (and a whole lot of turning the starter again and again) i am told there is a button to press in to allow you to hit the throttle in neutral, i cannot find it on my boat, It has a trottle with a trim switch where your thumb would be and I can find no other switches, levers, buttons etc.

I know it's a difficult question to answer without seeing the boat, but any help would be appreciated.

TIA
Chris

a pic of your controls may help. I have a searay, and there is a large square button at the pivot for the throttle handle. you press this in and it allows you to run the rpm up without turning the outdrive.

Ditto: My teleflex control box is that way on my runabout.

Or if there is no button at the pivot, try pulling the shift lever away from the panel at the pivot point (whole lever moves inboard). The throttle in my old boat worked that way.

I thought that too the hub in the center. That's why in the second picture you see the cover off of it. I pushed it and tried to slide it and it popped right off. I think you can see inside it in the pic and there's just no way to move it other than forward and back.

Try posting pics again, can not open your attachment. If you can get pics posted, I am sure we can figure it out for you.
