Where is the Trim hydraulic fluid reservoir on an OMC 800 with GM 5.7L?

I think my trim unit is low on hydraulic fluid. The thing is, I can't find the reservoir to fill it or if there is a reservoir. Is the reservoir attached under the motor? I found this and it has a plug there. If this is where I fill it, what do I use? Regular trim/tilt fluid? How much do I put in?

The fluid is in the pump assembly. The top off plug is on the side. Looks like a screw plug on your outrive.

Put your trim all the way in "Bow UP" position...(rams are detracted) top off the fluid and replace the screw. Extend the rams (Bow DOWN) pull the plug and top of the fluid. Cycle the rams 3 or 4 times, leave extended and top off the fluid as required.

Says to use OMC power trim and tilt fluid. If it's no longer available, maybe someone here has a suggection for a substitute.

On my boat, a 23' Carravelle walk around with 5.0 l mercruiser, the trim fluid reservoir is really well hidden. It is up against the transom on the port side of the engine - but behind a removable tackle box. Have to remove 6 screws on the tackle box to get to it!
Ask your dealer.

sure- ..as long as it's a light oil (about SAE10ish), has anti-rust/foam additives... 10W or 5W20 or 5W30 engine oil or what is sold as "hydraulic jack oil" is fine too.

p.s.... if it's low, you have a leak somwhere

Thanks again. I have some seepage from one of the hoses. I tightened it up and now need to replenish the reservior.
