Im looking to buy a prop for my 1982 Mariner 15 horse. The prop I have is bent (hit a rock during duck season) and I want to get a new/used prop. The one that is on it now is a 9 1/2 x 10 1/2 J. I want that same prop, it has been awesome with this motor. Could get my boat (14ft alum) on plane with trapping gear and 4 grown men. Ive been looking online for props and found some but I dont know who to trust or which company is better than the other. I dont want to spend $100 either. And everywhere I have looked ive found 9 1/4 by 10 but 9.5x10.5. Any help would be appreciated.

PS, I did do some forum searching here before I posted but couldnt find anything.

iboats sells the MOST props online. I do believe iboats sells a 9x 11 which should give the exact same performance and it's aluminum.

Call the iboats store and ask ;)

I have bought several things from the iboats store and they have great prices and service. Diameter is not as much of a factor as the pitch.

If you and your buddies all go to weight watchers for five years, fast with the dalie lama for two years and tie heilum balloons to your buts, maybe you could fly!!! It isn't going to plane with two heavy men and gear with a 15hp. How much do you want for your motor!!!

This motor has been great, bought it last summer with the boat. Its not for sale lol. You can ask all of them, it was on plane, or damn near on plane, we werent pushing water with the bow, that I know for sure. Now coming back with 3 beavers and 8 rats we were pushing water badly. But what prop should I go with to get as close to the original prop? 9x10 or 10x11?

Just my opinion.......... with that load I would opt for the 9 x 10

With the load you are pushing a 9 x 9 might give you better performance, but its hard to say without a tach.

Its not often its loaded up that much. Its usually just me and one other person, I use it alot for duck hunting. I love the speed I get out of the prop I have now, I'd like to keep that same speed, or close to it.

Planing is riding on top of the water, not when you have a one foot pile of water pushing off your prop. When that flattens out you are planing. In my 14' heavy aluminum it breaks over in salt water at 14mph with 380# of people, blankets, umbrellas, 3 gallons of gas, gas grill, fishing gear, rain gear, cooler full of food and drink and ice, ap55 Minn Kota bow mount. 29 series deep cycle. and a medium sized fish finder 12v battery, plus oars. I have a 15hp 4stroke Mercury. I have run mercury oem 3 blade 9x9 hits rev limiter (5500rpm) by my self at 16mph. Also have a Michigan 9x10.5 that does 17.5mph gps 5350rpm. I purchased a Solas 9 1/4x11 SS and I get 23mph at 4700rpm. The stainless works better accross the whole range of the motor rpm. I think I would be better off with a 10 pitch when fully loaded but I go out by myself alot and hate to hear the revlimiter kick in!!!!

I wanna say mine does 20 mph with just me, 3 gal of gas, 12 volt battery, trolling motor and light fishing gear. And that was on the GPS. I cant remember the exact speed it was but ill check it again this weekend. Its nice having that high end speed when duck hunting, especially for such a little boat.

Im having some confusion here...I was told by a member on here that my motor is a 1982, (http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=493986) but according to the prop selection from iboats.com mine should be at least a 1989 because it is a thru hub exhaust and an 8 tooth spline.

As shown in the linked post above the model number is 15M 684CS 022452.

My Solas Saturn ss is also a 8 spline prop. My guess is that the efficency of the Solas Saturn will give you what you need in an 10 pitch for the added load of three men. The 11 will not let your motor rev due to the added pitch. Your 2 cycle will rev higher than my 4 stroke!!!!

Gonna bump this back to the top. Would like to know why the year of my motor (82?) doesnt match the prop selection on iboats (89).
