Where to find a boat for my motor and trailer?

I recently was given an old boat ('67 Silverline) with a 110hp motor ('67 Merc) and a good trailer ('84 Spartan). The motor needs some work but nothing major at all. It has low hours and a recently rebuilt lower unit. Unfortunately, the boat is junk (needing ALL new wood, seats, etc...).

I'm hoping to find a decent hull without a motor or trailer (to keep costs low, $300 or less is my hull budget). I know there must be one sitting around somewhere.

I've watched ebay with no real luck. I'm not picky by any means. My requirements are that it can handle the 110hp outboard, it has good floors and seats, and it doesn't leak.

Anybody have any ideas as to where I can find what I need? I would just hate to see my motor go to waste and I probably won't be able to afford this big of a motor for many, many years.

I'm in MN and I am willing to travel up to about 250 miles to pick it up.

Thanks!

Actually, I see hulls sitting on the ground all over the place as I drive around the Twin Cities. Typically, there's a boat on a trailer in those yards, too, so it's probable that the person has replaced the boat.

Hulls are hard to get rid of, frankly. The big problem is that the ones sitting off the trailers generally have some problems, or they wouldn't have been replaced. So finding a hull that is in good enough condition to suit your needs may not be so easy.

One place to look is in the classified of the Pioneer Press. It seems like there are always boats in there. Another is Craig's List for the Twin cities. http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/

I see hulls there from time to time.

$300 isn't a lot of money, it seems to me. The ones you find for that amount may well be in the same condition as the one you don't like already.

But keep hunting. Drive around in the suburbs and watch for hulls on the ground. Go knock on the door and ask about it.

I know of one hull in North St. Paul, but I know nothing about it. It's on Seventh, on the left as you go into North St. Paul from McKnight road. It's big enough for your needs, but, as I said, I know nothing about it other than I've seen it.

Thanks for the replys. Looks like I may have to save/sell other items to get more money for a hull. I sat down at a boat launch tonight watching for stupid human tricks (which I saw some, nothing great though) and got a major itch to get a boat going.

Looks like I need to start knocking...

In a unused farm field there has to be at least 12 glass and 2 woodies abandoned. A wire job and a lot of wood work. done. Have to drive around, near lakes that are used.
