Where to find serial number on 40hp sea horse

Just picked up a used 40 hp montgomery ward sea horse. I would like to figure out the year. Where should I find the serial number? Thanks, Nick

What you want is the model number. Check the stern bracket for a tag. If removed, look on the powerhead for the welch plug. It will be about the size of a quarter.
