Hi again, I have a 1999 Four Winns horizon 170, with a 115 Hp Johnson motor....the question I have is: Is the neautral safety switch in the motor linkage, at the motor, or behind the forward/reverse shifter? I'm guessing behind the shifter, but am not sure....also if anyone has a ball park price, and how hard it is to change? Thank you

Re: Where to look

It's in the control box. How much and how difficult depends on what control box it is. Little switch with 2 yellow wires.

HI Dhadley, in the control box, do you mean behind forward/reverse shifter?? and to get to it, do I have to remove the sifter assembly?

New problem

New problem

HI, Got a bit of a problem, I have a 1999 115 hp johnson, and it is a pain in the butt to start at times. There is only about 150 hours on the motor!! But if I push in the shifter button, and advance the thorttle, the boat will start and stay running, while using the choke ocasionally, but it misses like hell, and sometimes (very seldom) sounds like a muffled backfire, and it will die immediately. It will start right up though, after the (backfire??) and after about 30seconds, I back the thorttle back to the neautral position and it will stay running, but continues to miss.Once I head out on the lake, drop the trim, it has no problem taking off, and doesn't miss at all on take off, or at WOT. just when I'm on the canal headed toward the lake it runs rough and misses, until I slightly increase the thorttle, and it smooths a little, but the miss is still there, but getting better. Once on the lake, once around, or if I'm pulling a tuber, skier,no problem starting and on running.Just when it sits, and cools down does it miss and dies.....usually leaving the swim hole after about 4-5 hours, it starts, but again runs rough, and sometimes stalls.Again, give it a bit of thorottle, no problem. Is it just a cold motor that just doesn't run, and start good unless it warms up? I am the second owner, and bought it in 03, and it just started doing this last year, and this year. Any advice, and help would be most appreciated. Thank you
