Where to mount Smart tab SX's

I would really like to put these on but the only place I have to mount them is right were the bunk stick out past the transom of the boat. I do not think that is the best place for them since it will band them.

Does anyone have ideas on what to do for them?

Need some better pics of the whole stern to see for sure.

It looks like you might need to move your bunk or shorten it. Or if the tongue weight will allow, move the boat back a bit.

Do what ever it takes, you will love the tabs. They allowed me to run the best prop for top end and still get out of the hole quickly, among other things.

Good luck!

ok. I will get another picture.

I cannot move the boat back any because I loose too much tongue weight.

I will also add in some measurements to see if anything can work.

After looking at it more, it looks like I have room to shorten my bunks up some and clear the tabs. Then I would have plenty of room for them on the transom.

Nauticus has a mounting bracket upgrade kit called the PR500 that allows the tabs to come up even with the hull instead of the 25 degree hang down. You would have to reach down and move a lever but this would take care of clearing the bunks.

Here is their write-up on it from their website...:

PR500
The PR500 Bracket assembly allows SMART TABS to be set in two different positions without the use of any additional tools. When the bracket handle is in the “Down” position the SMART TABS will function as trim tabs. When the bracket handle is in the “UP” position SMART TABS will be fully retracted. The brackets are ideal for use when rack storing a boat, beaching a tender or in very shallow water conditions for example. Replaces the standard transom bracket (#TB1007).

Note: For use with any SMART TABS or Mobster Tabs system.

I don't think the bunks stick out far enough to be much of an issue. And with proper measurements you might be able to mount them far enough out to clear the bunks

You might need the Stainless tabs instead of the SX. With the SX, the transom bracket and the tabs should be mounted on the same plane, and it looks from your pics that you may not be able to do this.

I would call Nauticus to be sure. 800-233-0194

Looks like because of the offset in your transom you will have to install them a little closer to the drive. Right where there appears to be a depth finder ??
Move that, shorten your bunks, relocate your transom straps and you are in business.

Actually the same plane mounting is not a set in stone rule. You just have to make sure the bottom of the shock does not bind in the up position. If it looks like its going to they can send you some non-binding fittings and resolve the problem. I had to mount mine at almost 90 degrees from the lower shock mount and have no problems with the new fittings.
