Would I order a Tech Manual for my 1979 Mariner motor, (60 hp) from a Mercury dealer? (is this better than say a "Clymer" type manual)
I am going to rebuild the the motor.
Will a tech manual give me all the order of disassembly, specs, clearances, tork settings etc.?
Any and all help much appreciated.

The genuine manual (from a Merc dealer) will give you all the info you need... The part number you need is 90-83079.

As for cylmer (and seloc), toilet roll would make a better manual...

I certainly can't agree with that ole buddy. Maybe for a guy who is into engines on a regular basis, but for us seldom to never guys, my manual 90-830234R3 (I guess that's revision 3......and still didn't get it right) is lacking in detailed info in some areas where details can be the difference between success and failure and their illustrations have errors.

I never used the Clymer manual so I can't comment on that.

Fair comment... But having looked through a few clymers and selocs.... trust me, you are WAY better off with the genuine....

Your manual is for 3 and 4 cylinder engines 1994 and up... Clymer do a manual half the thickness of yours, that covers all engines from 30hp to 225hp, from 1990 to present..... How much detail do you think is in that?

If tractor and auto after market manuals are any indication I will totally agree with you.
