where to store bimini top

I've got a 1989 Caravelle ES 202 and I just purchased a bimini top for it. My question is am I safe to store the top folded up and inside the engine compartment? When you lift the doghouse and rear bench that is right behind it, there is a carpeted panel hanging straight down with two nylon loops with clips - this has got to be for storing the top correct? It sits right on top of the engine.

Before I subject my new top to the heat of the engine and compartment, I wanted to ask those who know. Will the bimini top boot protect it?
Thanks

Yup - mine runs a nice and even 150. Sounds like a stupid question, given the loops and the carpeted panel, but I just wanted to be sure.
Thanks
