Where to stow the anchor?

I just purchased a 1996 Model No. 2002 WA. I am close to launching it for the season but I am puzzled as to where to stow the forward anchor. The hatch at the bow is too small to accept the anchor (what a diappointment) unless I shorten the shank of the anchor by aboput 2-1/2". Some have suggested that shorteneing the anchor may compromise the holding power of the anchor significantly. The boat is used on the south shore of Long Island, New York and is subject to tidal flows. Any ideas from other owners as to where they stow their anchors that leaves them accessible would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: Where to stow the anchor?

I don't have one but you can buy some sort of clamp that goes on the bow rail, don't know what there called. If know one chines in Goggle, "bow anchor clamp" you can then stow the chain and line ( Rode ) in the front locker. my advice is get a Fortress FX-7 only 4 lbs and will hold up to 25' boat, I use one on my 2302 and it holds great, of coarse you should have chain the length of you boat as well.

I stow mine (and rope & rode) in one of those fold up plastic crates. Bought mine at West Marine.
