Re: Where to visit in the USA in December
Hi all,

thanks for the input.

Techtoosweet, I was hoping to get an idea of different states so that my next visit could be more focussed. I get your point about missing some of the better sights. Nothing stops me from keeping within California and flying out to the Grand Canyon.

I was hoping to drive on the coastal road between LA and SF. I do know that this will take significantly longer than the interstate but may well be worth it.

So then how's this;

Fly into SF

Motor up to Yosemite (weather permitting) 2 nights
Motor down to Kings Canyon and Sequoia via Oakhurst, Fresno and Squaw Valley spend two / three nights.

Motor down to pick up route 198 west to pick up route 41 and travel down to San Luis Obispo pick up Highway 1 and head north through San Simeon, Big Sur and Monterey. Take two / three days to tour back up to SF depending on how much time was spent in Kings Canyon.

Fly from SF to Grand Canyon via Flagstaff spend two nights in the Grand Canyon on the southern rim. Fly back to SF and then home.

Cheers
Andrew
