Wow, we woke up a four month old post! Might have been better to have started a new one! Oh well!!

All 2 cycle TC-W3 oils are not created equal! TC-W3 is a MINIMUM standard that oils have to meet to be certified as outboard oils! Price has a direct relation to them usually, but not allways! You will notice a performance as well as longevity difference with synthetic blends and full synthetics! They will burn cleaner and you will decarb and replace sparkplugs less often!
WallMart 2 cycle oil seems to be adaquate, but has been shown by some to not be that great, although many use it here on the forum! I personnally wouldnt touch it! Ive always wondered why someone would invest so much on an engine and then see how cheep they can go on there oil! I use a full synthetic and beleive it is worth it just for the performance!

Welcome to the forum :D

LubeDude

BillP,

One of them did service only, and didn't sell oil (only what they needed for service). No conflict of interest there! And the problems weren't with carbon, it was another problem with injected engines that I'd rather not get into here....

I agree though -- everyone mostly goes by personal experience! Heck, I can even say I smoked for 20 years and never got cancer, so therefore cigs don't cause cancer! BTW, most of the mfgrs now offer non TC-W3 oil as their top of the line oils....

Use common sense, choose a good brand that's been around a while, and stick with it.

Dean
