Which 2 stroke?

I recently smoked my motor. I had a 200 HP Mercury Black Max. I am currently looking for a good reliable 2 stroke (price isn't a factor). The only problem that I am running into is which one to get. I have to get an engine under 525 lbs, due to the fact that my Gardy has suppers in the back and if I get an engine weighing more than 525 it will submerge my scuppers. What is my best option for a light weight two stroke? I would like to power up from thew 200 hundred if I can.

Evinrude etec 200 V6 is 427 lbs.Check em out at the BRP Evinrude etec site pretty sure there are tests on various boats. If I was buying; It would be etec. And the great plus for me is the 50+ year dealer where I buy my boats and motors.

Did a little more research the 225 and 250 top out at 530 lbs. There are a couple of models that are a few lbs less. The lightest 200 is 419.There are 5 or 6 test reports for most any of the etecs.

Thanks a bunch. I am thinking that i might go with the optimax 200 hp. It comes with the six year warranty and the powerhead is covered. It's also got a good weight and I have a very good mechanic up here that specializes in Mercury's. So after all is combined I think the Merc. is my way to go

Re: Which 2 stroke?

before you buy the optimax ask the dealer how much it is to change 6 spark plugs and compare that to the e-tec.

you will be shocked.

also the optimax uses compressed air to blow in the fuel trough the injector.
the air compressor is crank driven and it uses some hp.

there is a bunch of filters on this engine you wouldnt believe.
also there is a funky regulator between the airpresure and fuelpressure rails this regulater thing is critical for your air/fuel mixture injected by the injectors.

keep it simple and cheaper get a E-tec.
it might be more mony to buy but you will save in the long run.
