Which batteries

Hey everyone just wanting to see what most brands of batteries people are using. I'm going to be buying a deep cycle Exide Nautilus battery. Any body had any luck with these? I keep thinking a battery is a battery but I like the warranty on them and they are available to me very cheap

You can't go wrong with Interstate ..............Used them for years with No Problems I always use the 29 Series.... Mike Sr.

I've had very good luck with Duralast Deep Cycle from Autozone, 8 years and running.

I have used the Exide batts in pallet jacks. Last about as good as anything else. Duralast has proven to be a great value also. I really just use what I can get best price on that meets or exceeds specifications I need.

The Exide are good batteries.
The last 2 Duralast i bought were junk. One had a dead cell from the start but they would not replace it.
The most i have got is 2 seasons out of a Durajunk battery.
Autozone will never get another penny from me....cheap Chinese auto parts too...

I'm Interstate in all my stuff now.

I prefer a gel battery for both my boat and my 4 wheel drive. It boat use and its tilting applications when towing and storing, it offer piece of mind to me. Plus, the battery lasts longer than any other I have used in the past, including Interstate.

Cheep is the wrong way to go. Expensive may be better....LOL. But since you're mind is made up, why did you ask? Will you change your mind if some say the Exide is NG?

Its not the purchase price that matters, its the cost per year of use, or as we say cost performance.

I wouldn't own a wet cell battery in anything, not even my lawn mower! I have mostly AGMs but I now have a Gel as my trolling motor battery.

Bought the first DEKA AGM in 2001 and have replaced all my other batteries since then, as needed. So far, have never replaced one of the DEKAs. They charge easy and hold the charge long. Mount them upside down if you like, no acid to spill.

I've used the Nautilus for years.
I might try the Duralast when needed.

I like Interstate in my other vehicles.

Get the right battery charger too!!

Most good batteries are made by Interstate. That includes DieHard and Wally World's Everstart.

I have used Everstart Marine Maxx for about 15 years and never had the least complaint. No failures.. . ever.

Another Interstate vote. Its hard to go wrong with them... I've got a couple of the SRM-29's in my boat.

ive always bought walmart everstarts and theve been very good batteries. but walmart no longer offers any warranty on their marine batteries so i will never buy from them again. im on the hunt for a different brand when my everstarts go out. i bought a cabelas agm about 4 months ago, and it wont hold a charge anymore. cabelas wont take it back either. will never buy from them again

ive always bought walmart everstarts and theve been very good batteries. but walmart no longer offers any warranty on their marine batteries so i will never buy from them again. im on the hunt for a different brand when my everstarts go out. i bought a cabelas agm about 4 months ago, and it wont hold a charge anymore. cabelas wont take it back either. will never buy from them again

Cabelas wont take it back or exchange it? The batteries have a 18 month warranty.

I have a group 24 for about 9 months now. Used it all summer and fall. Been hooking it up to the charger for a couple of hrs once a month after storing it. So far, so good. Was hoping to pick up a group 27 too when it goes back on sale.

i bought one group 30 cabelas agm to replace my 2 group 24 trolling motor batteries. 4 months of use and the battery dies shortly after a charge. take it back to cabelas without the reciept and they said they will not replace it. argueed with them and the manager about how i spent $225 on this battery and it died after 4 months and you wont replace cause i dont have a reciept. asked them to look it up by my name or credit card i used. told me they cant do that. well like the madman i am i get pissed off and scream profound language at the both of them and tell them they will never see another penny from me. well because of that i get escourted out of the store.

Same here, once they stopped offering a warranty I stopped buying their marine batteries. Sam's Club still has a decent warranty, 18 months when I bought a battery last spring. A couple bucks cheaper than WalMart too.

Heck, I won't buy another WalMart automotive batteries either. I had the truck's battery go dead (3 years old) and played 'ell getting it warrantied as they had just changed their policy on automotive batteries. The old battery had a 7-8 year warranty and the new one a 3 year warranty, same battery, less than 1/2 the warranty. They were saying their batteries only carry a 3 year warranty, and since my battery was 3 years old there was no warranty left. Well, that was until I pointed to my old battery and showed them where it stated a 7 (or 8) year warranty. They were none too happy about warrantying it and tested it 2, 3, 4 times to make sure it was dead.

In my opinion the brand of battery makes very little difference.
Battery life depends more on how you care for the battery.
I usually buy from Costco as they have a 3 year free replacement and 100 month pro rated warranty.

Still if you always fully charge your battery as soon as possible and do not over charge the battery will live past the warranty.

If you run it down on the weekend and do not recharge until the next friday you will be lucky if it last 2 years.
I have never had a battery that did not last at least 6 years.
All batteries self discharge and they discharge faster in warm weather. So in summer need recharged once a month weather used or not. In winter charge at least every 2 months.
Buy a good automatic or smart charger that will fully charge and not over charge. I like 10 to 15 amp chargers so can fully charge in less than 15 hours.

Keep this in mind
Car Batteries (starter batteries) and marine starter batteries are not the same.
Both will perform the same as far as cranking amps but the construction or the marine battery is different
It is made to withstand more abuse in the form of bouncing around.
The same goes with the deep cycle battery
Any battery will only last if it is maintained in a proper manner.
(you do not want a deep cycle for starting but it could be used for an emergency start)
(you do not want to use a starting battery for running items ie trolling motors, stereo, frig, ect.)
I am not saying that you cannot do it it just affects the life of the bat.
And one of the worst things you can do is over charge
all these factors and how your boat is wired and if it has isolators or battery selector switch has to do with the life of your battery
