which boat should I get?

Hi all
Was having a look at the free boats on Craiglist and a couple of them are very tempting.
So I would like to have you guys opinion on which one I should get.
They are both project boats and both have no motor or leg.

#1 is a 1963 Chris Craft 25' Constellation.
#2 is a Chrysler Hydro V 23' Commodore 486.

Two classic beauties requiring a lot of money to be brought back to their former glory.

Let me know, maybe I'll get one.
cheers

Steer clear of the old wooden hull with twin engines unless you want to spend $20K+.

I would certainly invest in a professional survey before purchasing an older wood hulled boat, the cost could save you a heck of a lot of money..

Agreed on the prof survey. Never invest money in a boat without one. My choice, all else being equal, would for sure go with that sweet '59 Connie! Way classy boat

Re: which boat should I get?

while i like the chris craft.....

i would think that the engine/drive components would also be a deciding factor.

the cost of a new motor drive will run around 12k so if the boat you choose has a rusted out motor with an omc......it will all need to be replaced.

a lot to be weighed before purchase...do the math.

but the both look like a fun restoration

Yes I agree the Chriscraft is definately a classy boat, looks comfy for some extended weekend coastal cruising.

Maybe find something that looks like the chriscraft with a glass hull and a single screw. Theres a lot of free hulls out there.
