I noticed the piece missing behind the propeller on the skeg as well. Looks like someone backed it into something and broke off a small chunk...not hard to fix. I do like the five blade propeller which is great for water sports.

Re: Which Boat?

Guy finally got back in town & we have been talking. Boat is excellent condition but he wont get below $14,500.00 & I didn't know you gotta pay taxes & fees on a boat loan, thought it would be like cash since we don't register our boats like a car. So I am not sure if that makes it work my while. He said the skeg was like that when they bought the boat from the original owner, said he hit the edge of a launch ramp or dock. He said the shaft & everything is fine case he had it checked & the boat has worked fine for them. The prop is something they put on so that shows no damage.

I don't know, with it being winter, taxes & stuff making it not seem like such a great deal I told if he said yes to 13k I would buy it right now, he said no so I said I am not in a rush & to call me if he changes his mind or I would call him if I changed mine.

My boat is not worth buying a tower for & I hate how the lower unit hangs off the back of the boat with no swim deck or anything. I am debating just putting a nice swim deck on it & possibly get a wake tower & just use it another year. If I get a large tax return & a bonus from work maybe I will put it down on that boat but I am gonna wait a bit to see what I wanna do. Only other problem is if I want to do anything to my boat all the towers & swim decks are cheap right now!

Well I haven't received a tax return in well over a decade and typically pay in a used 40 footer's worth and a new tow vehicle to our charity intermediary but I digress. I. say hold on and be as picky as possible. I have a hunch the buying public may have less of a desire to buy large ticket items in the upcoming year.

Bottom line for me would be the warranty. What assurances are you getting in writing from the private owner? Also, judging just from the pics the dealer's boat is alot better looking. Pictures can hide a multitude of problems.

hold out for a v-drive. you won't be happy with any I/O if you are serious about watersports. i saw several 1999-2001 correct craft-super airs go for 16-20K this last fall. keep shopping.

Went and looked at the Rinker. Skeg is deff missing a chunk and is bent pretty good at the bottom of it. THey claim it has been checked things are fine, but I have concerns but not know much about it not sure how much of a concern. Lots of fading in the red since it is stored out side & only covered partly. Curious about potential skeg issues? bent shaft?
