Re: Which Computer ?????????

Clanton, enjoy. I have bought three Dells. One laptop and two desktops. No problems with two of them(laptop 1150 and dimension 4600) but lost power supply on third after lightning storm. Replaced with super silencer 350 and is still pumping along but also have my original Packard Bell Force 350 that works fine(great word processor).
Now as always maintain your new Dell. Use virus programs, spam blockers, defrag, etc and backup. As any tool maintain it.

why should i be frustrated with using a mac they NEVER have problems period. And the whole using intel chips will never happen. Nice lil rumor floating the web. To each there own i guess. Either way go for the Dell, cheap and reliable. Just curios though if anyone has even tried the new dual G5s?

Also, right out of the mouth of your hero Steve Jobs:

“Our goal is to provide our customers with the best personal computers in the world, and looking ahead Intel has the strongest processor roadmap by far,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “It’s been ten years since our transition to the PowerPC, and we think Intel’s technology will help us create the best personal computers for the next ten years.”

skeeterboy, got a dual G5 in front of me right now, regardless of the machine, Apple has the best after sale support of any vendor including Dell, who is also one of our suppliers.

Re: Which Computer ?????????

You really want to be looking at the independant components and what the motherboard supports. If you ask me brand name PCs are a waste of money.

You want to look at the motherboard and CPU first. You need to know the CPU brand/type model, you need to know the Front Side Bus speed of the motherboard. Usually the brand names stick you with a newer CPU and a motherboard that will not fully support it. Like a 2.4 Intel CPU with the capability to run FSB at 800mhz and the motherboard will only support 400mhz. Or they stiff you on the RAM. It is always something. Beside that if you like to have games build it from scratch youll never get a good video card withought a AGP slot or SLI these days now. So much to really talk about.

Sorry but if you got a relative or a friend who knows what I am talking about then let them put one togethor for you. It will be much cheaper and 10 times better. Just keep the spyware crap off it.

Newegg.com is a great place to get a good price on components and you can verify it with pricewatch.com to make sure it is a good price.

You build a stable system with the motherboard first. Motherboards.org has a great ranking and rating system for both AMD and Intel system motheboards. Let me know if you want I can help you pick out components. Youll need to let me know what price range we are working in though.

HI there clanton!!

long time eh!

If you are running XP, you'll likely just need to plug it in. XP should detect it. If it doesn't, visit the webcam OEM website and get the latest drivers....
