i've got a 1985 mercury 25hp outboard motor, (1985 --serial # a162592)my motor isn't putting out any water ( or peeing as they call ) could this be a tstat problem or just the impeller, i check the impeller it looked fine, so i have no idea,now i don't really know if this motor has a tstat,or where it is located...please help ....thanks and have a nice day

You will see in CYLINDER BLOCK AND COVERS (SERIAL GROUP #2), that particular engine does have thermostats. But looking at MISC. PARTS / SERIAL GROUP CHART you see that your engine s/n is SERIAL GROUP #1, therefore you do not have thermostats.

If you know where the pee hole exits, you can shove a piece plastic trimmer line or whatever you have up the pee hole to see if you may have mud daubers nesting up there. They are notorious for getting in there.

Is this a saltwater engine?

Have you or do you know when the last time the impeller was changed?

You mean to tell us, You removed the lower unit and DID NOT put a new impellar in. Bad idea. 25 bucks. SILLY.
