StarCraft s/s 160 with 2011 etec 60hp.Have a evinrude junior and a 67 20 hp Chrysler.I mainly boat on lake superior or up at camp on the montreal river reservoir. Both can be extremely sparse on other boats being around so thinking of a second motor as a get me home emegerency motor.Im not sure what the junior weights but the 20 is only 77 lbs.The 20 is setup for omc tanks .thoughts?.

Will the transom have room for the 20 on my ss160. I can just fit a 15 hp johnson and still have room for the full range of motion for my 70 hp.

While the 20 hp will work fine I would be concerned with that much additional weight on the stern of a 16' boat. Having that extra 80 lbs hanging on the back will drop your stern much lower and might cause issues on getting on plane and when slowing down. The JR motor is probably not going to be enough power to really get you moving much more than a slow troll especially in a windy situation. Why not sell both a find a nice light weight 4-6hp that will get the job done with minimum weight? I use a 9.9 hp on my 22' StarCraft and it scoots along with no issues. Tried it out on the lake and she will do 10mph plus with that 9.9 and 4 adults with fishing gear.

Your 9.9 weights marginally less than the 20 Chrysler. As it is I carry 24 gallons back there with zero issues. The junior is not mine to sell and id imagine the Chrysler is not worth very much atall.Maybe I can find a 6 hp rude for a good price ,maybe. The ss is rated for an 85hp so I figure my 60 plus a 20 shouldn't be 2 much over if atall.

Sweet little 6hp.Starts one pull, spits water like a champ, shifts easily, and responds to low speed adjustments quickly. Will only be using it as an emergency motor or if at camp I might take it off the back ,thow it on a small tinny and ive got a fishing motor where 5 gallons will last forever and a day.and would be young person friendly.

I had a 6 Evinrude a long time ago. It was a nice motor, early 70's vintage. I bought it when it was about 10 years old and never had an issue with it in the 3 years I used it.
