I hope to be changing the oil on my boat for the first time, and i do not know which oil to buy...I am from Ireland and the oil we have here is duel grade...

15w 30, 10w 40, 5w 30. all either fully synthetic or semi synthetic or just mineral oil.

Thanks very much for your help in advance.

Howdy,

If you don't have an owners manual
Just click the highlighted link above.

It will indicate the suggested oil for your engine once you get the right manual.

If you don't want to use what they suggest, you can rest assured that just about every kind of oil has been tried successfully.

Marine engines rarely (if ever) fail due to the brand of oil used.

Just change it IAW the manual at the end of the boating season when you winterize it. You won't go wrong.....

Thanks for the reply, I have a manual for my boat plus is says it on the filler cap. It just says SAE 30 syn. I was just wondering as here in Ireland there is so many grades of 30 eg 5w30 10w30 15w30. Thanks again Colm

People have a million different opinions on oils and i'll offer my oil. If the cap says SAE 30 synthetic then that is ideally what you should run. If you only have multivis in your area, run the heaviest winter rate 30W oil you can find. So in your case if you have 15W30 available run that.
