Re: Which Prop

To reccomend a prop you must know 1) what the reccomended rpm range for the motor is 2) what prop you are currently running and 3) what rpms you hit at WOT - wide open throttle. Otherwise you are just guessing and could waste a lot of money on the wrong props.

Re: Which Prop

Please keep in mind that there is no panel of experts on the iboats payroll waiting to answer these. It's purely voluntary by anybody willing to answer from experience or opinion. I'm afraid readers probably felt they didn't have enough information to rebuff the suggestion you already got from somebody with knowledge of the particulars. It's certainly nothing personal. Now had you mentioned the year and model of the boat, a bunch of owners of the same thing just might've had all kinds of opinions to offer. Just saying Astroglass bass boat is like asking what tires should I put on my Chevy sedan. At least I assume by your screenname we're talking about an Astroglass. :)

Here are your other questions. Perhaps somebody can glean enough info to offer an opinion. ( They all got responses. :) )

I guess I'd have to ask if this is the same Astroglass that had the 70 and is it rated for 100?

Re: Which Prop

The prop that will perform the best for you is dependant on a wide range of variables such as performance preference, altitude, the type of weight you're carrying, etc. Basically for the accuracy it sounds like you're looking for, you will need to know where you're at and where you need to be, find the contrast, and apply the correct change in pitch/diameter.

Re: Which Prop

Rating has a lot to do with it. If the boat is rated for 200 and you only have 100 on it, I would make a different recommendation than if the 100 was on a boat rated for 100. And if the boat is rated for 70 and has 100 on it, I'd advise removing it and mounting something legal.

I'm afraid I'm not specifically familiar with your boat, so I can't help much. Hopefully somebody with the same boat with a 100 Johnson or Evinrude can be of more help.

Re: Which Prop

Here is a pic of an Astroglass 151. This should help.

For average use, I'd say 19 aluminum or 21 stainless. Those are starting points only (educated guesses). If you want speed and you're alone, maybe a 23 stainless. If you want to waterski, the 19 aluminum may be fine. This one had a 100 Evinrude on it and I'm assuming that it was near capacity. No prop info or OB model year were provided.
