Dear Confused

I have the same motor! Maybe a /73 (s/n 39******)

I have both the factory and Seloc manuals for this motor. I have looked at the carb. sections of each because I have the same plan as you, to clean and rebuild the carb. this winter (actually soon). The exploded diagrams/pictures of the carbs are IDENTICAL (exactly the same, as if one was taken from the other) in both of these shop manuals, so whichever is available to you, go for it. Factory manuals are generally said to be better, but in this particular case, they are identical.

One issue is that both manuals cover multiple years and sizes of motors, so you have to make sure you're looking at the right carb. There's indexes in the contents, etc. but there is potential for confusion. However, it is obvious from the pictures which carb you should be looking at, so that's a minor issue.

Another thing - have you found a rebuild "kit" for this motor? I have not found a kit per-se, although there seems to be individual parts available. As a beginner to carb rebuilds, I'd prefer to have an actual kit so I know I'm getting everything I need. I'm a little nervous about taking apart and possibly damaging or losing parts if they turn out to be irreplacable!

Let me /us know what you find out.
