Recommend me a specific sealant for around the base of my navigation lamp, all-around lamp base, surface-mount horn, etc. (above the waterline)

Some kind of caulk-gun tube type product would be ideal, especially if the partially-used tube can be sealed and stored and used again in a few weeks/months. Black, white, grey, clear, color does not really matter so much.

And preferably not made of liquid gold with platinum flakes ;)

Thanks.

EDIT: If it matters, boat is fiberglass, items to be sealed around might be made of any of: stainless steel, aluminum, plastics (nylon, ABS, HDPE/Starboard), will be run in saltwater.

I am using 5200 on all my below-waterline stuff (e.g., engine mount bolts), but I have never used 4200.

With 4200, can I expect to be able to seal the end of the tube with a nail, then use the tube again in a month or two?

I buy clear silicone rubber compound in a caulking gun tube from Dollar General Store for about $3, use it for all kinds of stuff, like holding wires in place, stopping rattles, sealing around electrical components, etc., and a tube will last for a long time. When you get done using it, squirt a little out of the end of the tube and let it cure, then you the next time you need to use it just grab that little worm of cured rubber and pull it out of the end of the tube to unplug it and you're ready to go! Right up there with super glue, duct tabe and tie wraps! Good Luck!
