Which side up? Bad memory!

Well when I pulled the lower unit out of this 1959 5.5hp of coarse I forgot to take these parts out and I can't remember which way they go back in in all honesty. My mind is gone :(. I broke the split pin and had to make a special trip to town just for that lol.

Rubber side up or metal side up toward the power head on the drive shaft (not the shift rod)? I take it that the washer goes on top? The oring isn't included in the pick but I honestly don't know where that goes.

I know some of you guys are saying shop manual already, but I don't think I'm going to keep this motor. I'm thinking rubber side up, but I wanna make sure.

Starting at the pin and going upward:
Brass cup washer with spring in the cup
Carbon seal with 303347 o-ring in side, o-ring side up
Big washer, flat side down.
303355 Gasket glued to the top of flat washer, against powerhead.

The 303355 gasket and 303347 o-ring are vital to the health of the motor. Well actually the whole assembly is.

I honestly didn't know that was a gasket, but you can see what is left of it on the washer.

What type of glue do I need to stick another gasket on to the washer? Or can a silicon be used? Can I possibly make a gasket? I have the material but I don't know if it will hold up.

The original is a sort of rubberized cork stuff. Whatever you use will have to be thick enough to hold the raised center part of the washer away from the crankcase. A fuel-proof gasket cement like permatex will be OK. Don't let it get on the surface where the carbon rides.

Alright. I do have thick gasket material but it is not rubberized. I don't believe I have the fuel resistant permatex but I can get some.

I am going to try and find the phone number for a man in town that makes gaskets first and go from there. I would like to see if he can make a couple of other gaskets that I need also. I could also try to find the rubberized cork gasket material if nothing else. I believe our local honda motorcycle dealer uses the man I mentioned above for their replacement gaskets.

I am going to half to get a head gasket and power head gasket, I figure if I can have them made for a reasonable price I might come out ahead. I don't believe the power head replacement gasket is rubberized cork material, nor the head gasket.
