Not changes for changes sake, those changes are driven by what the majority want! It is unfortunate that many of us old farts, don't what them to change a darn thing!

Guess what, I really know what your talking about, I was born and raised in the Vancouver and that is not BC!

Naw MT, I think it is more likely salaried programmers who have to justify their continued existence. It's just like Congress making continual laws. If they don't do something, then why keep them around?

What part of the 'couve did you hail from? I'm on the south rim of the Salmon Creek Greenway, a mile and half west of I-5. Been here since 1987. A transplant from LA.

I was of the same mindset until I got a Windows 7 at work. I actually like it better than XP now.

You don't like tabbed browsing? You prefer a new window for every session?

New Window Please! One of these days I will have to get cozy with Win7. I want to get a laptop and then I'll be in neck deep.

I grew up in Hazel Dell, last place I lived was on Hazel Dell Ave, right across from the Fire Station, there is now a Kohls where my house sat, Dad still lives up in the Salmon Creek area right off 134th behind Fred Meyers.

I have a strong affection for XP pro, but have slowly been upgrading to Windows 7 Pro and like it quite a bit, once you get used to it, you will find that XP was a bit slow in several areas, I love the new networking features in 7 as well as the backup system, very easy to work with and having over 3 gigs of memory actually be workable, it is awesome.

Yep, I'm in North Hazel Dell. Up off of 119th st, just a big dip away from the old Don's country store. They now carry premium non-ethanol gas.

I remember when they developed your old property and I think that Mrs B is a charter member (sic) of Kohls. That whole development is struggling in Obama's economy

One of these days I know that I will have to get on board with Win7 but in the mean time my hardware is getting a little long in the tooth and as long as it keeps working I'll have to stick with XP.

Getting XP updates via FF is a new one on me. I make sure that FF is set to download FF updates and then tell me when it's ready. In the course of updating it will tell if any of your add-ons won't work and gives you the choice to continue or ignore the update.

I have never been able to get XP updates via FF, so I am a bit at a loss here, care to explain has some young brainiac come up with a plug-in to do this? Why is it, when one of these threads break out, there is always someone that talks in code?

Ok, Computards. Windows XP updates has nothing to do with you having FF for a browser.

Not sure if I would worry about getting XP updates. In another couple of months XP will no longer be supported by Microsoft which means no one will be getting any more updates.

Actually the end of life cycle date for Windows XP SP3 is April 2014, so there will still be support for another couple of years.

I can see how people might not be aware that windows update is built into IE and not every browser...What I don't understand is why he has to be a douchebag about it...

Re: Which version of FireFox should I try?

Does this all mean that Win7 users, using FF, will not get notified of Windows updates without the add-on?

I made a mistake when I downloaded FF, for my XP machine, in telling FF to be my default browser. Now all my IE icons were converted to FF and I can't access IE at all!

Hi Boom,
I'm running Vista & FF 10 and am getting Windows updates through CNET Tech Tracker. I don't know if CNET is good or bad. Good luck.

Re: Which version of FireFox should I try?

My update notifications for windows 7 has nothing to do with any browser, by default, when you have windows 7 installed you have a small icon in the lower right hand corner that alerts you to new updates. Has nothing to do with browsers at all.
