Which Way Should the Impellor ribs "curl"?

Searched posts but couldn't find the answer. I am replacing the impeller on a 1971 Evinrude 18hp. When removing the old impeller, looking at the bottom of the impeller, the fins were curled (pointed) in the counterclockwise direction. Looking at the picture in Leroys Ramblings info on the 15 & 18 hp evinrudes, the picture of the impeller shows the fins curling in the clockwise direction. Hope this description makes sense. Does direction matter? Since I'm replacing it I want to make sure it's right.

Hope someone can enlighten me.

The shaft turns clockwise looking down from the top.
Here is a picture of my pump removed from the motor.

Don't know for sure but won't the impellor adjust to the rotation if it is installed wrong? A fresh impellor being very pliable seems like it will adjust the legs as the drive shaft turns either way it is installed. While it is a great idea to help install it properly and way easier on the impellor legs too, I think it would adjust itself would it not... I don't know that for certain but it would seem so... Somebody correct me if its wrong...

That is correct - impeller blades will almost instantly right them selves the second you start up... No worries.

I've used a light coating of grease on the impeller to help things go together and I believe that it will help the vanes go the right direction in case they weren't to start with.

The manual on my Mariner says to lube the impeller housing and push it down while turning the drive shaft clockwise - it "screws" right in with the arms in correct orientation.
