Who is running for the next presidential election? I keep hearing condie and bilary, but is that just the press talking or are there real indications that they will be the candidates?
I'd like to see Cheney run, (provided he had a good VP). I think he'd make a good prez, and he seems to be a "get to the point" kinda guy, who has good public speaking skills.
Keep it civil!

I seriously doubt that any of the candidates which you have mentioned will run for the presidency.
The only person that i am aware of with his hat in the ring thus far is the democratic senator from Delaware Joe Biden.

Well, it is kinda early still, I guess. I thought the same thing about bilary and condie. I doubt Cheney will run because of his health, but I think he could turn around the leak problems and the war problems isues if he took the gloves off a little bit more.

It's way too early to tell.

McCain might run, and he'd be tough to beat.
Romney might

I think Hillary might run for the nomination, but she won't win it. I think the dems will pick another gov--either the recently retired gov of (Virginia, I think) whose name escapes me, or Bill Richardson.

I do however like Biden

If McCain ran, many conservatives would probably stay home. McCain is pure "rino".
But if Condie ran, she would have a better chance of having the base report for duty.

I'm with 12Fooer on McCain! Condie would make a good prez. If we are looking for a womem; go Condie. I was starting to rant; but, I'll stay still out of respect for the thread.

Heard on NPR today that Hillary just sent a letter to her constituents defending here vote to go to war with Iraq. At the same time she questioned GW's handling of the war. The only reason she would do this is if she's getting ready to run for pres. Personally I like John McCain and not just because I'm from AZ. I'm not sure what you mean by he's a "rino". You can forget Condie. Never happen in my opinion. Way too controversial and too close to GW. But what the heck do I know.

DR <<< politically challenged.

I'd love to see Condie run for two reasons. Both cynical. I want to watch the Congressional Black Caucus campaign against a black woman, and the same for NOW. This just cracks me up.

The piece I look at for taking any Democrat seriously is their vote on John Roberts. How in the world Biden or Mrs. Clinton can duck and/or support a no vote on Roberts is beyond me. The guy is as squeeky clean as you could ever find and he was spectacular during the hearings. Simply amazing. Man I hope someone will take them to task for that.

I think McCain is more controversal (SP) than rudi juliano. rudi is a libral republican. McCain is all over the place, I dont see how he could ever have any kind of plan for anything and stick with it. If condie ran I would probably vote for her,it would probably be a wasted vote but I have done that in the past.

I would be very suprised if Hilary did not run, she will never have a better shot at it....If we are still in Iraq with no real progress, the repubs. will be ripe for the 'BOOT'......I don't think that America is ready for a black woman to be president....Biden or Juliani....Hmmmmmm......Maybe....Mc Cain, would lose...The war hero thing only goes so far....& I think this nation will be tired of war anything 3 years from now......IMHO....JK

Re: Who's running for the next election?

McCain is all over the place regarding party lines yes, because he votes and fights for what he truely believes in and not what he thinks people want to hear, and not because his party is voting a particular way. Wishy washy is never a term I would apply to John McCain.

QC, I agree watching the political melee if Condie ran would almost be worth it. :D That's one of the reasons though that I don't think she would make a electable candidate. Do I think she would make a good president? Yes. Ditto on your John Roberts observation.

McCaine and Rudy are rabidly anti gun. I don't ,see either as being electable and McCaine is a classic backstabber.

McCain will try again, along with Rudy, I also herd that Gw's bro was looking at it. Romney is looking into it, but the interesting thing is Newt. I really like Condie. It will be fun to see.

On the other side, I think Biden, McCain (oh wait he claims to be a repub), Hillary, Gore and Kerry all want it. My thought was that Richerdsen (sp) from New Mex was looking until his baseball problems surfaced.

Spud

Uh! McCain should have been our president if it were not for the good ol boy network, I like McCain he calls a spade a spade and is not tied into party line ignorance.

Condo...LOL.....Uh No chance.

It would be so fun if Hilary and Bill got back into the Whitehouse, can you imagine the whinning...

Good Luck to each party...LOL

Lets just hope they come up with some better people than last time.

I also hope the Iraq war is over, so we dont get to hear each side talk about what their pullout plans are when you know darn well that you cant make plans in that country beyond 3 months.

Ken

"They" say the best predictor of tomorrow is yesterday. If so, just call to mind some of the natural disasters over the past five years, some of the political happenings, etc., then insert Al Gore or John Kerry into the Presidential driver's seat.

Scary, Huh? Just consider the day-to-day business of the country, then consider Al Gore making the decisions that direct that business. Do the same thing for John Kerry.

Can you think of anyone out there as a candidate in 2008? Hillary is a Senator from my home state, and the most laughable excuse for a statesperson around today! She hasn't done one thing for NYS except, ..."listen, consider, debate and call for...." She is a non-entity in terms of actually accomplishing something other than to line her pockets with political sheckels.

I like Barak Obama. He's got a lot of years ahead of him so weather its 2008 or not I bet he will be President at some point in the future.

Re: Who's running for the next election?

I like Mcain, seems to be a straight shooting guy, yes he has had some alcohol and women isuues in the past. seems some others did and still got elected.
has anyone ever seen the flight deck video of the USS Forrestal on fire off the coast of vietnam?
watch it
when watching it look closly at the aft end, the guy in the A6 with a 500lb bomb on its belly surrounded in flames.
watch the canopy blow and watch a man crawl out and jump off the nose of that A6.
thats senator john Mcain.
this same man was later shot down and incarerated as a POW. while incarcerated it came to the NV's attention that Mcains father was an admiral. they offered to trade him but Mcain refused the deal and spent another 3 years in a POW camp.
I wonder what President Bush was doing during all that time? was he acting like a man and showing up at the alabama air national guard musters and doing daily flight trainings? was he off coking and smoking and having a ball?
I dont agree with mcain on all the issues but he does seem to have personal character.
condi is a lap dog
Hillery is to personally ambitious.
Cheney is not healthy enough to withstand the constant travel rigors in my opinion. I think it would harm his health to much.

Re: Who's running for the next election?

The filthiest word in politics today is ‘bipartisan’. Our political system is designed to work ONLY when two opposing parties are, well, opposing. When the two parties are cooperating, we are living under the control of a single political entity with two names. For years now we have endured two cooperating parties whose words are in opposition, but whose actions are bipartisan, eventually coming around to a global, socialist agenda. It is not hard to see how any controversial issue in the US will be resolved just by looking at how that issue fits in globally.

When things get to the point I need to choose between two candidate, I will measure from the middle to the candidate on the left, and from the middle to the candidate on the right. Which ever candidate is furthest from the middle gets my vote.

Btw, Condi Rice is smack dab in the middle. Between the two, HilLIARy would get my vote. She even has more balls than G.W. And don’t discount D!ck Morris, he’s sitting on the fence about a run for the White House in 2008. Not many people in America are as politically astute as he is.
