i just have to vent a little...
while shopping for a 13 foot boston whaler, one candidate had a 40hp mercury, 4-cylinder, and another had a 40 hp yamaha, both are oil injection 2-strokes.
so i go to the mercury forum and ask their opinion about that motor. i get nothing, nada. not a single response.

i have never had this problem here in the omc hangout. the fact that i have collected four of them ranging from a 1959 to a 1990 in my short time in boating was just dumb luck, because the help i've gotten here has been invaluable in building my interest in this hobby. based on my experience so far, if i'd had any other brand, and gotten no help at all, i'd probably have left boating in frustration.
rant off...
fwiw, i settled on the one with the yamaha. it was an elderly couple's creampuff. they had just had it serviced. it runs really well.
