mellowyellow,
I must be missing your point. Your not doing an Apples for apples comparison.

My points:
1) The motor you point out is a 115. Mine is a 125.
2) Mine has warantee until NOV. 2005
3) I'm offering a boat. And it's very clean.
4) I'm also throwing in a trailer.
5) Electronics.

It woould be pretty hard to fish off of that 115 4 stroke without a boat.

R/
Stoke not

JasonJ,

What a cool boat! It's amazing that they sell for so little. If it wasn't for needing a salt water boat, I'd be looking for something like that Pacific Mariner.

Re: Why won't my boat sell?

readyfreddy, unfortunately that price is what the market bears in my area. There are five million boats for sale at any given moment here, and they are almost always dirt cheap. There are especially a lot of sixties boats for sale here for under a grand, and also a lot of boats from the seventies not much more expensive. A lot of people still think a newer boat that looks and runs like crap is better than an older boat that looks and runs good, because they are stuck in that "newer is better" mindset. I got three years of use and profitted on that boat, what more do I really need?

Whats even better is that I see that old boat out on the water all the time. I have tried to cruise up to them just to chat but they always run away like I am up to something, its wierd. Yeah, my boat is ugly, but **** , it ain't THAT ugly....They never saw my current boat so they have no idea who the wierdo in the hodge-podge centerconsole is that stalkingly drives up to them.

RatFish,

I think the best I can do is $6,500. If you can find a better deal I'll match it. I see from your profile your from South Jersy. I grew up in Capemay NJ.

Go Eagles
R/
Stoked not

Ok, fix the spelling for one. Then work on the grammar...it looks like one giant runon sentence. Clean up the carpet next and do something with the cables/wires. Leaving stuff in the map pockets doesn't help either. Maybe you couldn't help it, but the pictures are entirely too huge.

'No-name' isn't very attractive...

I agree that you are leading with your chin with all those pixels...
I have a very clean boat, but If I used resolution like that, you would start spotting the "details". Not that there is anything wrong with your boat.. The pics are too HONEST...
The aim is to get potential customers to come and see it and then they can judge for themselves. Hey, it's a boat.. it's gonna have some wear and tear.

Re: Why won't my boat sell?

Hi stoked not

You have a great looking package deal.
Don't sell youself or it short.

Do what the people have suggested on cleaning it up a bit IE: wires..steering wheel, scuff marks and oh... and do something with those trailer light wires... :) picky arn't we hehe

Ask yourself this
A: Do you want to sell your boat or
B: Do you want to talk about Not selling it here in this thread?

:) figured I'd better put in a smiley face before you get hot under the collar :p

Anyway it's worth your time to at least check out what cobra 3.0 said for these reasons

But first you must be dealing with honest people.
Find a dealer in your area (with in a 100 miles) that turns a lot of new boats, and is willing to do a consignment. This may harder to find than some think.

1: They will know the market value for your boat package.
2: 80 % of the people comming onto that lot are looking for a boat! Yea there are a lot of prop spinners out there too :)
3: Most of the sales staff 6-18 for for high turnover dealers will have a seperate lead list for people looking for a used boat by price, type and size, and notes if they can be financed or not.
Now you have 6-18 people with lists of people already who are looking for a (mabe yours) boat!
4: You don't have to worry about all the details!

I've worked for several high turn over dealers and only one would take consignments but they had to be in good condition like yours. (they need to make money as do the salesman) for the time and effort. But once the service department gave it a thumbs up all the sales staff would be calling (pre-qualified) buyers..

As long as your boat is priced right for your area at a dealer you should have your money in a week without doing anything.

On a side note: Most new boat sales people just love to sell a trade in... it's one of a kind and for once you have lists of people looking for it and not shopping every dealer looking at the best deal. :)

Just thought I'd put in my 2 cents worth here.. and yes I want my penny back for the thought!

Oh this is just from one place on your motor
Low Retail:$4,830
Average Retail:$5,750
Add your nice boat and trailer package 7000 - commision 6000 ... in pocket.. oh my penny..
$5,999.99

Keep us posted.. and the cash in your pocket

Link

Always take care with pics. They generate huge files, leaving viewers waiting for ages, for each pic.

'A picture says more than a thousand words'. Great, but you can't decide what thousand word it says to the viewer.

Remember, the only thing you want to achieve is a contact from potential buyers. Once the contact is made, you can roll out the arguments and mail heavy files to them.

Re: Why won't my boat sell?

FLASH!!!!!

Well guys I think I sold my boat yesterday. I listed it on Boattrader.com and got one call The guy sounded like he was ready to buy it over the phone and told me he was coming out the next day. He never showed up. Mean while I had it listed on Ebay. I had a couple of people bidding on it with "buy it now" option for $6,500.00 Well, someone exercised the buy it now and sent me a deposit. I think the buyer did real good. The boat is clean and priced right. Were else can you get a almost new 125 HP OB with a warrantee, boat, and trailer for this price.

Thanks for everyones inputs

Re: Why won't my boat sell?

Check out my new boat. Stratos 2250WA This boat has some real finished quality. No plastic fittings. They don't make them like this unless you buy high end. I hope to get a season or two befor I repopwer. Compression checked good. I'm not sure what it's called but the plaastic around the hard top is the hard plexy glass like stuff.

Tight lines
Stoked Not

Re: Why won't my boat sell?

Hey guy's

Another dumb question. Hopfully someone can help. The gentlman who's purchasing my boat want's to know if he can use my Lic. plates on my trailer to tow the boat back to his house. This would be across several state lines. Should I do this?
