Looking at buying a used 1970 Wilker Galaxie boat. It's been stored indoors in a garage most all its life and looks in really good shape overall. Has some type of wooden windshield frame and dash panel. Looks like a good rough water boat from the shape of the hull. All original from what I can see and I couldn't find any soft or weak spots. Even the seats look almost new. Is it possible this boat has not suffered the usual rotted stringers and transom? Is there anything else I can look for to avoid surprises?

Thanks for your input.

Re: Wilker restoration advice

there is no such thing as a bad boat only bad owners.

it is the optimum to find a garage kept boat.

the chances of finding rot are greatly dimished with a properly kept boat.

a garage kept well maintained boat, can be in better shape than a 2 or 3 year old boat.

search, core sample, transom rot, stringer rot.

each of these threads will give you ideas on how to inspect the boat.

good luck.....you may have found a score. :)
