Will a 74 power trim fit a 89

I'm looking for a power trim for my 1989 70HP johnson and came across a 1974 60Hp power trim unit ...will this fit my motor and work successfully?<br /><br />

Not sure just what you are looking at. They did not make a 60 hp engine in 1974. None of the trim units from 1974 will not adapt to your 89.

Welcome to iboats. <br /><br />The early 2-ram trim units were a bolt-on and may fit (I dunno), but they weren't very good. You would really prefer the unit that fits between the clamp brackets, trust me!

Between the clamp brackets ...so your talking about a CMC aftermarket power trim/tilt instead of the OMC bolt on factory unit<br /><br />and<br /><br />///It's a 60Hp used unit from the 70's not too sure i guess on the year ...thought he said it was 74. <br /><br />I was going to measure the distance of travel to see if it would work but I thought i'd get some expert advice as well. If i can get a picture I'll post it
