I have a 1987 OMC Cobra 2.3 Liter.

Will it damage any of the components to "dry shift" it?

Meaning, with engine off, boat on a trailer, moving the throttle lever all the way forward and/or all the way in reverse.

Components being the throttle lever, control, cables, lower end gears, dogs, etc..

I know, generally, it's not good to dry shift a standard trans automobile. Hard on the synchros. What about an I/O?

If you have someone turning the prop by hand, it won't hurt anything. But if it's not turning and the shift dogs on the gear and the clutch are both on a high spot, then you will put a bind on things.
There really is no reason to "dry shift" .
