Will my 120 lower unit swap to my 888 outdrive?

I just bought a 1976 beachcraft ski boat, it has the ford 302/188hp and 888 outdrive. My lower unit has a round crack opposite of the drain in front of the water pickup. My question is can I swap a 120 lower unit onto my 888 upper housing after all they are both R drives right?

Hard to say, the 888 isn't an R drive, it's a MC-1 drive, have no clue about your 120.

If you have the complete 120 outdrive, there should be a serial number on the port side of the upper.

The 120 is from 70-77 sn range, which makes it a MC-1. The 888 Ford was only used from 71-77. So that makes both of your drives the same era and both are MC-1 drives.
