I just bought a 88 bayliner capri 17ft with a 85hp force engine I was wondering if my 06 trailblazer will be able to pull it easy, it's got a 5.3l v8 but it's only 2wd. I have no idea how much this boat weighs.

Check the owners manual for tow limits. You will have plenty of power for highway use but being two wheel drive you may have issues at the steep and slippery ramps. limited slip differentials certainly help as to tires with a little more aggressive tread.

I tow a 89 capri with a 125 force ob, with dodge v8 dakota quad 2 wheel drive like the boat isnt there, but its longer than the trailblazer. now it towed my express cruiser home when I bought it , but it was a cool day, as warm weather came , I could not not tow it, it ways 7100 lbs, so I had to move up to a suburban.

That boat is so light you won't even know you are towing. The trailblazer will tow that with ease. take a look at trailvoy.com trailblazers and envoys enthusiast page. guys tow stuff a lot heavier with the I6 not even the v8. This is the most responsible tow vehicle and boat package I think anyone has ever asked about. The slippery ramps may be an issue. Take a look at youtube at the 2wheel drive trucks trying to pull out a jet ski and just spinning. I have seen this first hand with big trucks and row boats. Its kind of comical to see a big chevy spinning trying to pull 500 pounds of boat and trailer out of the water. It suprises me that they offered the Trailblazer in
2wd.

Good Luck

YES YOU CAN! with ease.

You need to join trailvoy.com for that type of information.
I have the I6 version of the Trailblazer and its capacity is 5,000. The V8 is higher and your boat shouldnt weigh over 3,000 if you put bricks in it. :D

Re: will my trailblazer pull my boat easy?

You should be alright, i towed basically the same boat but with an i/o with a 2001 GMC Sonoma 2wd Vortec 6cyl, didnt even know it was back there. Never had a problem at any of the ramps even the steep ones for the bay. Had quite a few people tell me at the ramp that the truck aint gonna pull it out. I just politly nod my head put the truck into gear and slowly eas the boat out of the water with there mouth dropped to the floor. :)

Now my current tow vehicle is a 1972 GMC Custom Camper C2500 with the 5.7l (SB 350) I imagine i shoulnt have any problems with that truck.

The trick with our bay is not to pull out on low tide when the ramps are moldy.

Pretty good non steep launches around this part of WI, I imagine the 2wd will be fine. Surely you don't have "car tyres" on this rig if you drive it in the WI winter.

Bayliner 1700 Capri Bowrider
By: Eston Ellis | Friday, December 01, 1989 12:00:00 AM
Last updated: Sunday, November 30, 2003 8:32:01 PM

When Bayliner?s distinctive 1700 Capri Bowrider debuted in San Diego at the company?s international dealer meeting, even the least excitable spectators were taken by surprise.

The new bowrider exhibited 32 mph performance, pulled a 210 pound waterskier around a slalom course with relative ease and could be hoisted by one of its cleats, demonstrating its structural integrity. Most surprising of all, Bayliner representatives announced that the boat?s list price is less than $6,000, complete with an Escort galvanized trailer and 50 hp Force outboard engine.
?This boat is aimed at first-time buyers and people who think a boat is something they can?t afford yet,? said Gene Ciccarelli, president of Newport Pacific, a Bayliner dealer in Newport Beach, California. Personal watercraft enthusiasts ? such as Jet Ski owners ? are among the first people who may become interested in the 1700 Capri, he predicted.
?To go out on the water with your friends on power skis, you have to have more than one. For close to the same price ? about $120 a month ? you can buy one 1700 Capri and have fun on the water with three other people. That?s pretty inexpensive entertainment.?
Of course, power ski buyers don?t get all the extra comforts included in the standard 1700 Capri Bowrider package, such as an AM/FM cassette stereo system, cushioned bow seating area, marine carpeting, sport steering wheel, convertible top, beverage holders and convertible sleeper lounge seats.
Outside, the 1700 Capri displays elements of sleek, European-influenced styling. a swept-back windshield and a Ferrari-style rear scallop are key elements of this David Livingston-designed model.
Inside, almost everything needed for day cruising is included, along with features that buyers might expect only larger boats to have. For example, its integral wrap-around, walk-through windshield is constructed of tinted safety glass in an insulated, vibration-resistant stainless steel frame. Both the integral fiberglass swim platform and the bow include molded-in non-skid surfaces.
Bayliner used the ?Model T concept? to keep the 1700 Capri affordable, Ciccarelli explained. ?It is available in one color, with one power package, and there are no options to add on. That keeps the price down without compromising quality.?
The 1700 Capri is both versatile and user-friendly: a trailerable boat that doesn?t require its owner to be a weight-lifter or own a monster-size truck. It weighs just 1,040 pounds ? including the engine ? so that it can be towed by even small four-cylinder vehicles, and can be launched and loaded with ease. Its low profile design; five foot, 10 inch beam; and three-foot bridge clearance allow it to fit in most home garages.
But even though it is relatively light and easy to manage, it is endowed with the same strength and structural integrity as larger vessels.
The 1700 Capri?s hand-laid fiberglass hull is built with unitized construction. All structural components are bonded into a rigid matrix for safety and durability. The stringer system uses yellow Alaskan cedar that is fully encased in fiberglass for maximum strength, along with light weight.
For 1990, Bayliner provides a five-year warranty on its Sequential Lift hull and a lifetime warranty on its Perko cleats. ?Bayliner is making a strong statement about the quality of its products,? Ciccarelli said.
The company recently began a quality assurance program, under which each production worker is held accountable for the job he or she performs. However, the main reason Bayliner can control product quality is that it controls the production of most components used in its boats. Bayliner?s parent company, U.S. Marine, owns 22 manufacturing facilities that make its windshields, engines, trailers, marine vinyl upholstery and wiring harnesses.
?That allows Bayliner to keep the price of each completed boat low, so that savings can be passed on to the consumer,? Ciccarelli said.
Affordable boat prices have helped Bayliner sell more boats than any other builder: more than 300,000. With the introduction of the low-priced 1700 Capri Bowrider, it seems destined to sell even more.

Haha wow another trailvoyer! I never thought I would see one on a boat forum.

Anyway you should have no problems towing with your trailblazer. I have a 19 footer and have no problems towing with mine. I do wish I had the v8 though!

Trailvoy is BOMB! Im proud to be a member. :)

We just got a 21' Caravelle with a 5.0L inboard/outboard and unfortunately its right around the weight that Im not going to attempt to tow it with my I6 Trailblazer. The boat weights 3,000.....
For that purpose alone I wish I could have gotten the V8 version with the extra tow capacity. But for my first car I cant complain.

Nope can't complain at all! I would however recommend getting a transmission cooler in addition to the stock cooler. That way you can be sure your trans will stay cool esp since you are pushing the tow capacity.

I tow my 21ft Wellcraft with a I6 Trailblazer. Fully loaded up on the trailer about 4800lbs. You know she's back there but the TB handles it just fine.
