Hi, I have been fighting this problem for a while now, nearest dealer is 100+ mi from me! I have a 95 dt 150efi, starts great idles fine but when I advance the throttle it only advances to around 3000 rpms. No idea where to start Help!!!
thanks!
Best thing to do would be to buy yourself a manual for your motor and get the required test equipment that it tells you to use.
I always start with testing compression and spark on all cylinders. Check timing and them work on the fuel.
Ok:
compression is good, I have spark on all 12 plugs. I dont know how to test the spark @3000 rpms? I really dont want to hang over the rear of the boat pulling plug wires while crusing down the river!!
Thanks
Try a inductive timing light or inductive tach to see if it is loosing spark on certain plugs.
but Best way is using a peak reading voltmeter made for these ignitions or a DVA adapter and regular meter to read the out put voltage fron the CDI to coils. You need to use it also for reading the charge coil outputs and pulsar coil outputs. The manual will give the specs and how to do it.
