I bet at the end of each season he is truly ready to quit but if someone was offering me millions of dollars to come back and do something im good at and love then i bet your @@@ ill be back out there
My bet is he isn't even doing it for the money. He has plenty of money. He just loves the game and can't stand the thought of staying away.

I have noticed that the vast majority of Favre-haters are Packers (and sometimes Bears...but do they really count for anything in the post-season math? :D ) supporters.

Hey, if he's such a washed-up has been, then y'all should be begging him to return to the Vikings. Just what is it you're really afraid of, hmmm? :p

Point well taken! But, I am not a Favre- hater though. He has played well through his years, I guess some of us Packer Backer Cheesheads just get tired of the indecisions in his past.

The media coverage/hype here in WI is unreal, too much in my opinion....

I am not a sports guy and agree with the above statement that people get caught up in it all. I played tons of sports growing up but never cared to watch. The fact is I don't know where people find the time to care about and religiously follow sports. My kids play every sport it seems but until last year we never sat down as a family and watched football. My wife could have cared less about watching the Vikings but as a family I don't think we missed a game on any given Sunday and we went to the first last second nail biter. I attribute our interest to Farve and my oldest son's first year of tackle football. For the first time ever, I look forward to football season assuming he comes back.

As long as the Lions are in the NFL Farvre will always be able to beat one team...so he keeps at it. Detroit would be glad to have him if it meant they could go at least 8-8.:D

Not sure he's make it long with a bad offensive line though.

I don't think I will ever understand how some people get their ego all tied up with some sports team or individual. Whatever Favre does, some will treat it as a personal triumph (or catastrophe).

JB, I do understand for the most part, I think. I would not say most attach their team to their ego, but to their heart. The bond changes "them" to "us",and "they" to "we". I am passionate about family and friends, and I am also passionate (granted on a lesser level) about my fishing and my NY Giants. I am admittedly smitten. Long term devotion to a sports team results in "living and dieing" with your teams' performance. Guilty...

I am convinced Brett will continue to play as long as some team will let him take the field.

Totally agree. One man's passion is another man's folly. Your passion can be boating, fishing, hunting...watching sports. Has nothing to do with ego.

"My" Country
"My" town
"My" company..even if you are not the owner but love what you do.

Ok to say "My" even if its not exactly yours!

How many times have we woke up and said this is it and i am retiring only to later say why. I love what i do. Brett is no different. He loves the game and for the last 19 years has given his all. Look at the numbers he put up last year. If some one offered you a few million more i would ask my spare parts if they are up for it to. I undestand the Packers negative feelings toward him but you were the ones that said he was to old to play. I for one will always watch him. The man has no fear. The day will come when he will hang his cleats and we will miss him. But the day will come when he shows up in Canton Ohio where we will all watch him again

I'm a big Brett Farve fan. I love to watch him play. He was awesome last year, and if he can stay in decent shape, will be that way this year, too. He's a southern fellow like myself and seems like a relatively good person. He's also from the country, like me, so I can relate to him even more. I hope he never retires, and never throws another interception.:);)
I also am a big Terry Bradshaw fan, and a big Larry Bird fan. When Bird quit playing, I quit watching basketball on TV.
Leave old Farve alone and let him sing his song.
He's used this indecisiveness thing enough that I believe he's using it as a gimmick to make more money. Who can blame him? Noone has to watch him play if they don't want to!
Maybe he'll take the Vikings to the superbowl.......I might even have to save up for a ticket. I'm not that far from Dallas!!!!:)

Re: Will someone please tell him to just go away

Welcome back Brett! I for one, am very glad to see he's going to finish out his contract. Although, I've heard there's an extension in the works. Even tho he said, this is his last year. In the 2009 season, Brett made football fun again in Viking land. And it wasn't just Brett either. He did, however, get the team fired up and had players who really wanted to work their tails off for him. Last year I believe that Brett complimented the Vikings and the Vikings complimented Brett. It was a complete team effort, and it showed. They may not do near as good as they did last year, but it still is going to be a fun season.......

I've been a vikes fan since I was a little kid. Even when Farve was with GB, I would root for them if we were not in contention. You could hardly help respect the guy for how he plays. When he is in the game, you always have a chance of winning.

I think there are a lot of people attributing manipulative motives when I think that he has approached this very much like his decision to throw the ball.

Now with one more year in him, maybe Aaron will be available via free agency. Now wouldn't that be fun..
