Montpelier, Vermont - August 15, 2008

The president has declared Vermont a major disaster area for storms that hit in mid-July.

The powerful storms hit several communities, including the Champlain Islands. Power was knocked out to thousands of people. That is part of the damage to public infrastructure that is eligible for federal disaster aid.

Many homes and other private property were severely damaged or destroyed by the strong winds, which included a tornado in Lamoille County, but that damage is not covered by this disaster declaration.

Well, I don't know how you did it, Bob, but thanks anyway.

Got an inch of rain this AM, followed by an Alberta Clipper that smells of the sweet Canadian plains. It was in the 70s all morning and didn't get over 90* all day.

Of course it could have been just because I got my A/C fixed.

Six days since my last post here...............and not a drop of rain has been had here.................we're at -22 inches YTD last I herd The weeds are wilting due to lack of moisture................

We heard on our 6:00 news that the STS that passed over us cought rotation 25-30 mi east of me over Plymouth MA.. Thankfully didn't come down. I've been getting STS daily for last 2 weeks .
