I have a 1955 Johnson CD-12 5 1/2 HP. Is this the same motor as that produced in 1956.

I think the 5.5hp pull starts are very different between '55 and '56. If you're looking at a '56 OEM manual for use on a '55 engine, the OEM manuals I've seen cover the previous year as well if they're significant differences.
