Will this piston work for me?

I have a 1965 Evinrude, 6hp, model 6502m that needs a piston. I found a power head from a 1964 3hp Evinrude, model 3432 that has good pistons in it. I check my manual and it shows that the stroke, bore std and bore oversize are the same for both motors. That piston from the 3hp should work in the 6hp shouldn't it?

Thanks,
Gary

Say what???? No way. The bore on a 6 is way bigger than a 3.
A 6hp is 1-15/16" and a 3hp is 1-9/16" bore. Stroke is different too. What kind of manual is that anyway?

Re: Will this piston work for me?

I was using the Seloc manual for Johnson/Evinrude from 1956-1970. In the back there is a page for powerhead spec's and it lists the bore oversize the same for motors from 1.5hp to 9.5hp. But as I look again I see that the bore std and stroke are different. Well I'm glad I asked, I learned something today. Maybe you can explain what the spec's for stroke/bore std/bore oversize mean.

Thanks for responding
