Will this prop fit my motor?

Hello everyone!

I've got a quick question. I have a 1989 Force 125HP non-thru hub exhaust outboard. Im about to purchase a new aluminum propeller here on iboats. I have found the propellers that fit my motor but there are also propellers for the thru-hub exhaust outboard. When looking at the propeller selection for the thru-hub style outboard I found a much cheaper propeller. What I want to know is, will the dual exhaust style propeller fit my motor (w/o modification) even though its a single exhaust lower unit? I understand the dual exhaust propeller will have a little different look from a thru hub exhaust passage, but that shouldn't hinder it on my motor right? Just figured I'de ask and possibly save like 60bucks! Appreciate any info on the subject!

Thanks,
Red

Re: Will this prop fit my motor?

First: There is absolutely no difference in performance when using a thru-hub exhaust prop on a single exhaust Force.
Second: Some props will fit with no modifications. SOME (like Vortex, for example) require removal of the anode in the lower unit behind the thrust washer. AND some (again, Vortex) require grinding down the prop webs a little bit if you want to keep the anode. Some require a special thrust washer which is available.

Some (not specifically for Force) will stick out too far on the prop shaft and you will need to be certain the prop nut is as tight as you can get it.

Be careful: Research well--Much cheaper props (again, like the Vortex) may need a special hub insert kit and come without it. That costs the extra 60 bucks you think you are saving.

All the modifications necessary are simple and can be done with hand tools if necessary.
