Is there a standard path for the winch strap to follow to connect to the Bow Eye on the boat? Should it go over or under the bow stop? Advantage/disadvantages either way?

Re: Winch strap position

I have been told it is better under, that way when trailering it helps hold the bow down to the stop.
but I use a chain from the eye down to the frame be cause
my strap won't work under

Re: Winch strap position

what ever way you have to route it, but the bow stop needs to be above the bow eye. the reason, the bow stop helps keep the boat from sliding into the tow vehicle, in a sudden stop. you are also suppose to use stern tie downs.
