These kits really work. We used the windshield kits(Acrylic Restoral Kits) on our F-16's for everything from canopy scratch removal (their intended purpose) to polishing little aluminum access panels. You can take any kind of metal give it an absolute mirror finish. It also works extremely well for light lenses. I've used it on both aircraft and cars.
I've also used the same kit to polish scratched out of my wife's stainless steel revolver. The only problem was that I got up to the 8000 grit pad before and realized that the restored area was shinier than the rest.
These are the perfect thing for making an old boat windshield, light lense or highly polished metal surface "better" than new.
I will definitely be using it on my windshield, prop, rails, and other shiny metal bits.
